Thornhill Child Care Society is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing high-quality, inclusive early learning and child care for children and families across Calgary and surrounding communities. Guided by the Flight: Alberta Early Learning and Care Framework, our programs are rooted in inquiry-based, child-led learning that builds children’s security, self-worth, independence, and confidence. We believe meaningful play is the foundation for all learning, and our environments are thoughtfully designed to support each child’s physical, social, intellectual, creative, and emotional development.

As a family-support-focused organization, we welcome and include children of all cultures, abilities, family structures, and backgrounds. Thornhill is proud to provide individualized programming for children with specialized needs through our multidisciplinary Early Intervention Team and community partnerships, ensuring every child receives the support they deserve.

Our educators are committed to continuous professional development and best practices. We maintain enhanced educator–child ratios whenever possible, creating warm, nurturing environments where relationships flourish.

Established in 1974, Thornhill Child Care Society now operates multiple centres and a city-wide day home program. Thornhill Child Care–VIK Academy is uniquely located within Tudor Manor Senior Residence and offers intergenerational programming, fostering connection, empathy, and mutual joy between children and seniors—a truly special part of our community approach.

Guided by our Board of Directors and rooted in community, partnership, and advocacy, Thornhill remains committed to supporting families, empowering children, and nurturing a strong sense of belonging across all our programs.
