We provide services to kindergarten children in the areas of speech-language, occupational therapy (fine motor skills), physiotherapy (gross motor skills) and behavior support.
The first step in qualifying children for support is to have them screened by professionals in the areas of speech and language pathology and occupational therapy. During the initial screenings our therapists spend 10-15 minutes with your child either 1:1, in a small group of children or during a classroom observation. This allows the therapists to observe your child’s skills and determine if further assessment is necessary.
If the Speech Language Pathologist and/or Occupational Therapist has questions or concerns regarding your child’s screening, you will be contacted. A plan will be made with your consent to proceed with further assessment and a more in-depth evaluation of your child’s skills. Pending the assessment results your child may qualify for Alberta Education funding to facilitate additional classroom and/or therapy support throughout the school year (September – June) with Thornhill facilitating Alberta Education’s funding application process.
Screenings, assessments and therapy are free of charge for the families and therapy services will occur during the time your child attends their Thornhill program. Thornhill’s private ECS will facilitate the funding that children qualify for.
Please indicate below if you would like your child to participate in the screening. By checking off the consent box and signing below, you indicate your consent and agreement of observation, screening, and assessment for your child by our partnering specialists.
